Lunch & Liberation: Protecting Vasa & Honoring Pacific Islander Past, Present, & Future
Lunch & Liberation: Protecting Vasa & Honoring Pacific Islander Past, Present, & Future
12:00 p.m. - 01:30 p.m.
In many Pacific cultures, Vasa (the ocean) is not just a physical space鈥攊t is an ancestral, spiritual, and cultural lifeline. As climate change, colonization, and militarization threaten both land and sea, Pacific Islander communities continue to resist erasure and fight for the protection of their homelands and histories. This discussion uplifts the resilience and sovereignty of Pacific Islander peoples by exploring stories of cultural survival, environmental stewardship, and intergenerational knowledge. We鈥檒l reflect on how students and allies can stand in solidarity with Pacific movements, honor Indigenous stewardship of the ocean, and resist extractive systems that harm both people and planet. Come share space, build community, and nourish yourself with food and dialogue. Open to all students committed to collective liberation, cultural respect, and climate justice.
